Community is Our Driving Focus

Susan is a Bendigo native and Ray has called the city home since 1980, with many branches of their families residing in the Central Victorian region. Both personally and as the owners of Low Cost Cars, they’re always keen to foster connections to the local community and to see Bendigo thrive. This interest has prompted them to find ways in which their knowledge and enthusiasm for motor vehicles can provide a conduit for supporting groups and helping individuals in the district.

Here are just some of the ways Ray and Susan are proud to contribute from their business and experience, to assist through local sponsorship in the community.

Bendigo State Emergency Services (SES)

Customers buying a low cost vehicle often have a used car they want to provide as a trade-in to make the purchase more affordable. When the car being traded is an older, low value vehicle, Low Cost Cars donate it to the Bendigo branch of the State Emergency Service (SES) for accident readiness training purposes. The importance of these training drills was explained in this article about the increased demand for SES services and the scope of recent car rescues by the Bendigo SES. The organisation is appreciative of support from Low Cost Cars.

Lodden Campaspe Multicultural Services

This grass-roots organisation provides a range of services to help immigrants settle into Australian life and become valuable members of the Central Victorian community. One important practicality of daily life is acquiring a driver’s licence. Low Cost Cars helps new immigrants achieve their goal of obtaining a Victorian licence by lending a car to LCMS’ Learn to Drive (L2P) program.

Girton Grammar School—RACV Energy Breakthrough and Shell Eco-Marathon

Technology is leading the way in making cars safer and more energy efficient. One of the ways this is fostered is through programs and events such as the RACV Energy Breakthrough and the Shell Eco-Marathon, which is held in Asia. These competitions involve primary, secondary and tertiary students designing and building cars that use alternative forms of fuel or are highly energy efficient. Low Cost Cars is proud of the application and success of the Girton Grammar School team it sponsors, who this year won the Shell Eco-Marathon’s US$3,000 Technical Innovation Award.
